Notes about this site:

  • Historically, the regiment is known by two names, “The Old 4th Michigan” which spanned 1861-1864, and the "The Reorganized 4th Michigan", for the years 1864-1865. The Reorganized 4th soldiers are noted with (RO).
  • Some soldiers have more than one picture for their listing due to them having a family stone and a military stone.  A few of the gravestones are cenotaphs, which are used to honor a soldier whose remains are located elswewhere.  We have tried to indicate these.
  • Images of some cemetery gates have been included in this collection as a visual aid for anyone wishing to locate or visit the site. Users can browse the images of the gates by clicking the link below.
